Elisabeth Hasselbeck: Celiac Disease Advocate
Living with Celiac Disease
Hasselbeck's Diagnosis
Elisabeth Hasselbeck, a former co-host of the daytime talk show "The View," has been a vocal advocate for celiac disease awareness since she was diagnosed with the condition in 2009. Celiac disease is an autoimmune disorder that damages the lining of the small intestine when gluten is consumed. Gluten is a protein found in wheat, rye, and barley.
Hasselbeck's diagnosis came after years of struggling with symptoms such as abdominal pain, bloating, weight loss, and fatigue. She was finally diagnosed after seeing a celiac disease specialist at The Celiac Disease Center.
