Carnival Cruise Stranded at Sea
Passengers Temporarily Stuck in Jamaica
Storm Damages Ship
A Carnival cruise ship carrying nearly 4500 passengers and crew was stranded at sea off the coast of Jamaica on Friday morning after a storm damaged the vessel. The ship, Carnival Splendor, was on its way to Grand Cayman when it encountered rough weather. The storm caused damage to the ship's propulsion system, leaving it unable to sail on its own. Passengers were forced to remain on the ship while repairs were made.
The ship was eventually towed to the port of Ocho Rios, Jamaica, where passengers disembarked. They were then flown back to the United States. The Carnival Splendor is expected to remain in Jamaica for repairs for several days.
Passengers on the Carnival Splendor reported experiencing rough seas and winds during the storm. Some passengers said they were seasick and had to seek medical attention. Others said they were frightened by the experience.
Carnival Cruise Lines has apologized for the inconvenience and has offered passengers a full refund for their cruise. The company is also providing passengers with a free cruise on a future sailing.
